Welcome — MIROKU is open

Our site is live. A quiet place to meet one-of-a-kind tatami-beri bags made at Honmyoji Temple in Fuji City, Japan.

Made once. Made for you.

We have opened a home for MIROKU online.

It is a small site for bags handwoven at Honmyoji Temple in Fuji City, Shizuoka — from tatami-beri remnants and recycled paper band. Not a loud shop. A place to look carefully, then write if a piece finds you.

What you will find here

The Collection shows each work as it stands: available, held, or already gone. Because every bag is made once from materials that cannot be reprinted, no two pieces are the same. When a one-of-a-kind bag is sold, it may never return.

About tells the why — temple, mountain, craft, and the ties of place. Blog holds short notes on material, making, and care. Contact is how you begin: send the cart, and we guide the next steps by hand.

How a bag is made

Tatami-beri is the decorative fabric edge of Japanese tatami mats. When rooms are remade, leftover bands are often discarded. We keep them. Around a frame of paper band recycled in Fuji City, we cut, weave, and finish entirely by hand at the temple.

Colour and pattern arrive already decided by a previous room. We do not chase a matching pair. Slight differences in stitch and shape are part of handmade work.

Browse the Collection. Read About if you want the longer story. If a bag stays with you, add it to your cart and send word through Contact — we will hold it and arrange payment personally.

Welcome to MIROKU. We are glad you found the door.
